Scripture Study

The other morning William found my mini Book of Mormon that I carry in my purse and began "reading" me all the scripture stories he knows.

I later heard him ask Russ, "can you read the scriptures?" When Russ told him he could he said, "I can read the scriptures too!" He is growing up so much and very pleased with himself when he can do something new. He is such a good kid. The other day coming home from a church meeting where he was being not so reverent and Russ was not there. When I was putting he and Gracie in the car it was really hot and William kept asking me questions like, "is that our car?" and pointing to a big truck. I was quickly loosing my patience. While we were driving away he said,
"Mommy are you mad?"
"no"
"are you frustrated?"
"yes"
and then a whole conversation about how if he doesn't want me to be mad he needs to be better before I get mad. Then he said,
"Mommy, you don't have to be mad. You can be happy if you want to."

Right you are William - thanks for the reminder. I love you.

Corn Fields

My parents live out in the middle of nowhere and on our way out to the middle of nowhere there are some corn fields. William was asking me about them one day and I told him we would take a walk in them some time. Well the was a lovely and crazy monsoon storm the other night and after it quit and the sun came back out I thought it would be a good time for a trip to the corn fields. Sometimes I feel like a mama koala bear, notice Gracie's leg attached to mine with her big toe sticking out.

What I didn't think about was the mud this rain storm would have brought with it and...
... apparently William does NOT like mud on his shoes.

Don't worry, Russ knew how to fix that.
Gracie and I watch and enjoy.

Before we left William had to check and make sure his shoes were clean. I can't believe he did not fall over. It was fun, but I wish that we could have walk threw the corn, oh well. Maybe next time.

When we got back I realized I need a picture of Russ and Gracie in their matching pink, Russ would imitate whatever face Gracie was making, this was my favorite.

Blog Copy Cat

My sister in law blogged about this and I wanted to also because it is SO COOL. The have fans come and bring any instrument and play some songs with them. I half expected to see Lauren in the back with an accordion. After looking this up a bit I find out they were in Phoenix (where I am right now) last week. Man I wish I had known about this, that would have been sweet to be there. Oh well, that is what I get for NEVER knowing what is going on.

I love Weezer.

Life back to normal

Monday Russ came home! He was sad to see William all buzzed and keeps saying how much older he looks now (it's true). So after he got home we let him eat and then all went for a lovely swim together.
Gracie is so laid back when she gets in the pool. A nice break from the -all over the place- style she has going when she is out of the pool.

Then Russ and William watched Cars and fell asleep within the first 20 minutes while I started working on my quilt.

Kung Poo Pana

Isn't that what the movie is called? A few days ago my brother and sister and I took William and a couple of his cousins to see the movie and William was kinda scared some of the time. He sat on the floor with his head sticking in between the two seats in front of us. He is still talking about the movie.

I let them practice their kung fu in front of the movie screen...after the movie was over. They had a blast.

We Grow Together - Bridal Shower

Here are the pictures of the bridal shower. I stole the theme - We Grow Together - from a post on the grooms blog that he wrote about his bride. The bride is a freestyle free spirit kinda girl and I wanted to reflect that. You can see the invites for the shower in this post.
This is the entry tableThese are the fabric flower pins that I made and gave out as favorsThis was the wheat grass I grew and also gave away as favors. Since it was a come and go sort of thing I didn't see when everyone left so not everyone got one and I have a few extra pots of wheat grass. Want one anyone? This is the food - Sweet pork salad recipe from Cafe Rio - very good. The bottles are ones I reuse and love. I make the labels, these say A&R June 2008. For dessert we had an ice cream cone bar with crushed candy bar to dip them in.And cup cakes that I baked in little glass cups. I purchased the cups (tea light holders) at IKEA and have never regretted it. I have now used them to hold a flower in water, tea lights, cake, and I have another idea for them. We'll have to see at the next party I throw.I know it is hard to see, but the flags say, "We grow together" Alexis & Riley with a little butterfly in the corner. I was going to use the butterfly lanterns that I used at this party, but ran out of set up time and decided to scratch them. And this is the gift I made for her. This is a silhouette of them kissing from a picture on their wedding announcement. I loved the fabric and just knew I had to use it. And Alexis, if you are reading this - I forgot to put a way for you to hang it on the back - whoops.

It turned out great and was a lot of fun. Thank you Jennie for letting me use your beautiful house. It will be nice when I have my own place to have my shin digs at.

Welcome to the family

We have a new member of our family.
His name is Lightning McQueen
He is a famous race car

Two

Two beautiful girls, two little fingers, two teeth on the bottom and two teeth on the top.

Love and Marriage

Well this was the weekend that one of my best girlfriends, Alexis got married. On Thursday I threw her a shower at my other friend Jennies house, thank you - thank you Jennie. It was a lot of fun. Some REALLY funny stories with some funny girls.

Alexis got a lot 0f great gifts. This was my gift to her. Her bedroom colors are black, white, and yellow so when I saw this fabric I could not pass it up. This is a silhouette of a picture on their wedding announcement painted onto the fabric. Russ helped me out and it turned out nice. It reminds me of a song my dad loves called Two Silhouettes on the Shade.

The next night was the reception held at her parent home. While I was there I realized I have a lot in common with Alexis' mother. I loved their yard for a few reasons: 1. This swing set that was an actual set of different kinds of swings. 2. A chicken coop

3. Plants in an old bathtub 4. a porch swing
Everything was so beautiful. William got to meet a few of my old friends (Congratulations Jenny!) and had a fun time. He found a blue lollipop (or lollipat as he would say) in my purse and is showing off his blue tongue.

Here is The bride and I with Gracie who was up WAY past her bedtime, but still in good spirits.

And then this morning I was able to attend their sealing. It was very sweet and I am so happy for them. Marriage is so great and I know they are going to love it.

I am glad to see that Riley adores her, as he should. Of course being at the Temple, especially a sealing, makes me think of one person.
I miss you - My Love

Just not the same without you.

Buzzed

I know this will make a lot of people sad But it has been getting really long,
And it is REALLY HOT!
and this is what William wanted and he is handsome however his hair is.
The last time we cut it was in September, I figure we can cut it every summer and then let it grow out the rest of the year. We'll see.

Fathers Day

This fathers day William and I went out the day before to run some errands and I told William that we needed to get Dad a present. When I asked him what he thought Dad would like he told me, "he wants a car, I will have Lightning McQueen and he will have Mater." Then he said he wanted a Sword of Omens. While we were running a errand at Office Max William walked passed a DVD stand and saw a movie and said, "Daddy likes this." I went to see what it was a and it was a movie called Dunks!

I told him he was absolutely right and William got his Dad his fathers day gift. Then we went to the grocery store to pick up some stuff for a nice Fathers Day Breakfast. When we got home William promptly told him (despite the repeated coaching not to), "We got you a present, it's basketball". So Russ thought he was getting a basketball since we recently misplaced ours. But luckily William was not that good at describing. We had Russ open that gift that night though because I was afraid William could not keep anymore in that long. Russ loved it, and it is made even better because William picked it out. I will have to add pictures of Russ opening it later since they are on the computer at home.

Then next morning we had a nice breakfast of pancakes with strawberries and cream and bacon (wouldn't be a treat for Russ without bacon) and some Simply Orange to drink (we empty a bottle of that stuff pretty quick). Then Russ got to open his gift from me.

You might be thinking, "that looks like a pile of old t-shirts." and you would be right. This a quilt top made of Russ' high school and college shirts. And Russ, being the sentimental guy that he is loves it. I didn't do the back yet because I was not sure if he would want a jean quilt or a throw. He wants a throw so I will have to get working on that.Oh, how we love this Dad
