I know I posted this picture a few days back, but I didn't write about it. This girl of mine has been saying some pretty funny things lately and I have to write them down before I forget.
While watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory for the first time she kept saying things like, "that's EXACTLY where I want to go and it's not real and that's not FAIR!" or, "I just want to live there." She really likes that factory. And she is not alone. I sat there and watched her with that longing in her eyes and remembered so vividly being a kid and wanting to go there. I posted this on instagram and I got a bunch of comments of other grown ups who feel the same way. Some wanted to eat the flower cup or the giant gummy bears. I just wanted the cream on the top of the mushrooms.
The other day she came up to me and we had the following conversation-
Gracie: "the little girl inside me wants me to swallow my gum so she can have it."
Me: "there's a little girl inside you?"
Gracie: "yeah, her name is Serena Lilly Aina" (that is her go to name as of late)
Me: "Oh, I see."
Gracie: "and I am her talking house!"
She loves to color and draw. Sometimes she draws a specific thing, but others times it is just shapes and lines and they are beautiful and full of color.
One day we were cooking some twisty noodles and as she stirred them she said, "pretend we are giants and these are little people and we are going to eat them!"
She also told me one day that sometimes she eats little bits of her body and even her owies. I think she is referring to things like hang nails and scabs, which I told her was gross and asked her not to do anymore.
(Gracie I know someday it will probably be embarrassing to read this, but just remember you were just a kid, and a very cute and funny one at that.)
It was so cute until the last one. :)
ReplyDeleteI still wish I could go that factory. I also still have dreams that I have a room full of candy and just before I get to start eating it, I wake up. I may or may not need to get my sugar inhalation under control.
ReplyDeleteDitto to Connie, although there is no better way to admit to eating hang nails and scabs than to say, "Sometimes I eat little bits of my body." Ha ha.
