Cardigan uplift

I found a cardigan that I kinda liked at the thrift store for a good price. I decided to get it because I really liked the color, length, and pockets. It just needed a little (easy) uplift.
I got some inexpensive trim (15 cents for a yard) in a nice navy blue. You can pin it where you want it, or just guide it along the edge as you go.

I just used navy thread and it didn't show at all so I didn't need to worry about doing really straight lines, but it  does look nicer the closer you sew to the edge of the trim.

Then I hand stitched the trim onto the pockets. You could also glue it with fabtac is you wanted to.

And I didn't have 7 matching buttons in the right color so I went with 7 different ones. I like how it turned out.
The finished product. You can also see me wearing it here (though I am not really showcasing it)

Should I have put trim on the sleeves? I didn't think of it until now. Oh well, I am already thinking about my next project...these baskets.

She dreams of cupcakes

Gracie asked me three days in a row if I knew how to make cupcakes and if we could make cup cakes. At first I was almost offended. Of course I know how to make cup cakes!
Then I realized, I never bake. I have only ever made cakes on their birthdays and for the hero party. I just don't have the desire to do that and I don't want to start cause then I will just be over weight and I don't want that. But since I had a cake mix I decided to say, yes.

So we threw on our old matching aprons and got to work.

While making cupcakes Gracie likes to look at herself in the bowl...

...has to cover her ears when the mixer is on (even though it is not loud)...

...and loves to lick the spatula.

Some friends stopped by and Gracie was so happy to have Emily there with her.

They did such a good job frosting the cupcakes.

They did a good job eating them too.

Yay for cupcakes! Here is Gracie's happy cupcake dance to celebrate the occasion.

Last night was hard

Russ put Joesph to bed and like usual when Russ put him to bed he ended crying. I even went in to try and rock him a couple of times but when he got put down he would cry. He finally went to sleep after a few hours of that. Then in the night we he woke to eat for the second time, he would not go back to sleep. I was so tired so I woke Russ to see if he would try and rock him to sleep. He got up and put his pacifier in his mouth and then got back in bed. Even though he was still crying. I was pretty livid.
Russ told me he was find and just needed to cry himself to sleep. Which is easy for him to say cause HE.CAN.SLEEP.THROUGH.IT!?
I got up to sew some tu-tu's for Gracie's dance class until he finally went to sleep. When I went to bed he woke again and this time I realized it was time for him to eat again, so I got him a bottle, fed him, wrapped him, and laid him down. He went to sleep. And so did I.
Needless to say I slept in and was running a little late getting William's lunch made. Then William started reading Joesph a story. Without me asking. And it helped Joseph stay happy.

It made me feel a lot better to have my little helper William. Being a mom is hard sometimes. Like last night. All I want to do is go to sleep for crying out loud!

Then I wake and see these pictures of lovely Sunday morning.
My heart swells and I repent.

Cause I love these guys. I love being their mama.

More than anything.

They are worth the nights of lost sleep. And so much more.

renewed

I am happy to report that I have been feeling more like my pre-pregnant self. It seems perfect timing with all this spring stuff going on around here. The other day I saw this lone rose shooting up out of the ground. I had no idea it was even there. Just one stem and one rose...no bush.

So I took a not-so-great picture of it with my old camera. I love the weather right now. I love Arizona! I know it is just going to get hotter and hotter, but that is okay. I will swim and be in the air conditioning and just be hot sometimes.

One way I know I am feeling more like my old self is, I have a desire to cook. I find it fun again. For a long time I would just dread dinner time. I am not exactly like I was cause I have tweaked all my recipes to be easier and faster, while still keeping them healthy.

An basil plants are back a Trader Joe's. Oh, how I love fresh basil!

Next year this time, I hope I am feeling so great that I actually plant a garden. Wouldn't that be great.
The last year has been crazy and hard. And awesome.
fixed up the house (we are still doing this)

I grew and grew. My due date came and went and 10 days later...
I get to know the cutest little chubby there ever was.
After all that I am finally starting to feel more like myself. And I know it will only get better once I get to sleep through the night, but who knows when that will be.

This also came at the time of General Conference. So much inspiration. There will be a lot of changes around here. For the better.
Happy spring!
