The fun begins

Tuesday I worked on making stuff for the reunion and when Russ came home some cousins came to swim and more came to swim and more came to help. Many thanks to my brother in law Ted for taking pictures of everything!
Yay for Tuesdays, cause Daddy is home early!

William loves his new wand I picked up at my girls night out.

Gracie swam, crashed, and then swam again.

Kirsten and Ashley helping to get stuff ready.

Hal and Will having fun on the phone.

Gracie loves it too, a little too much. Getting some play time in before bed.

Then Wednesday night we had an adult dinner at Pita Jungle. First of all I love Pita Jungle and secondly, I love Russ family. This is such a good time and I am so glad they started the tradition of an adult dinner. One just doesn't seem like enough.

A humongous thanks to Russ for making me a Christensen.

Little fingers

I am in love with Josephs little fingers. He has started pointing and touching things with his index finger. It is such a simple thing, but brings me so much happiness.
He loves eating finger foods. Anything I give him he loves.

So much concentration.

Good job buddy.

My other favorite thing is for him to play the xylophone on our phone.

He will also point at and poke my nose when I am rocking him to sleep.
Man, I love this kid. Every part. Even his tiny fingers.

I'm back. whew.

What a whirlwind of a week. And four days.
It started with girls camp, which was fun. I only stayed a couple of days because I had my in laws 50th wedding anniversary to get ready for.
I ended up going home even earlier because Joseph was sick and wheezing. I drove home in the middle of the night. Picked up Joseph from my in laws and took him home to try and get some sleep.
I was able to sneak in a GNO.
We had an adult dinner with Russ' parents and siblings at Pita Jungle. I love the adult dinner, look forward to it every year.

It is obviously a good time.

The next morning I got sick with a head cold and spent the whole day at a church setting up for the big party (I will put pictures of  it up later)
The grand kids decorated the car and it was so cute. I will be surprised if they ever wash it off.
This is Russ' dad after the whole thing was over.
It was exactly how I felt. But the whole thing turned out so lovely.
We had LOTS of left over cupcakes and I ate 2 of them for breakfast (what?) And then we swam with some cousins and  then headed to Amazing Jake's and it was amazing.

The kind of place that brings about spontaneous cousin hugs

And crashing at the dinner table.
(I couldn't get a decent picture of it, but the highlight for William was definitely riding in the go-cart with his favorite cousin Mac)
Talents were shared

Birthdays were celebrated

And quality time was spent.
This last picture was taken as we watched reunion videos from years past and this years. I always get emotional. I feel so lucky to be a Christensen.
But things did not end there. I have more pictures to collect/go through and more visiting to do. Tonight we go to the temple. I can't wait. It seems like the perfect, calming end to a crazy, busy week.

Do you Pinterest?

I am kinda obsessed with pinterest. It is a place to keep track of all the things you like. It has made my life so much easier cause I used to look at blog and the internets and if I saw something I liked, I would copy and paste the image into a folder on my computer. But this always bugged me cause I wouldn't have a way to remember where the post came from. With pinterest I have a page that has all my boards (think bulletin board that you pin stuff to) and a button on my Internet tool bar. As I scour the Internet and I see something I like I push the button, select the picture I want to pin and the board I want to pin it to and voila, it is saved for me. And the best part it that when I click on the picture in pinterest it will take me to the original website that I pinned it from. This comes in handy with tutorials, recipes, and when you want to re-blog something and link back.

Here are my boards (click on the link and it will take you to my pinterest where you can click on the image and it will take you to it's home):

So...pretty much it is awesome. As my sister-in-law so eloquently put it, "it is the cutting out things you love from magazines of the future!" Even cooler cause you can see all the things your friends are "cutting out" and you can re-pin it to your board. It also helps that I am friends with such stylish people with such great taste!

This is the part where you come in, have you joined pinterest? And if you have are we friends on pinterest? If not lets remedy that. Leave me your email and I will invite you. And we can share all our lovely finds together. Seriously. The more the merrier.

Hoopster

My families Sunday dinner was made extra fun this week because my mom bought hula hoops. William caught on really fast and was really good. Gracie did it over and over again and got a little better with time.
But instead of shaking her body she would shake her arms. It was too funny.

Can you tell how hard she is concentrating?
After watching and instructing so many different family member while they tried to do it, I had to try it too.
I could do it. Russ said I looked hot and drunk.
It was fun. Hula hoops, who knew?

If you come to my house...

Mother, oh Mother,
come shake out your cloth,
empty the dustpan,
poison the moth,
hang out the washing
and butter the bread,
sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house
is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery,
blissfully rocking.
Oh, I've grown shiftless as Little
Boy Blue (lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping's not done
and there's nothing for stew
and out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
but I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
The cleaning and scrubbing
will wait till tomorrow,
for Children grow up,
as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs.
Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep......
